With the use of electronic accessories and instruments now allowed in DCI, McCormick's is proud to carry samplers from Yamaha and Roland. Electronic instruments have been used for years in marching bands; using a sampler can take your show to the next creative level.
The beauty of incorporating a sampler into your show is that you can play pre-recorded sound effects, vocal or instrumental tracks, speech or any other sound you might useāall at your command and the push of a button. With a sampler, you can use sound to paint a picture of the mood you're trying to create. Add lyrical speech segments over a ballad or perhaps some extra percussive sounds to accent an intense rhythmic line.
Samplers also work great off the field, especially in theatrical applications. Easily add sound effects that your pit orchestra cannot replicate for a more authentic performance.
From idea to fruition, using a sampler isn't hard. Simply find a sound clip that works for you and record it into the sampler from your computer, or you can record a vocal or instrumental track with a microphone plugged right into the sampler. Dedicate a channel on your mixer through your sound system, like McCormick's Ultimate Field PA System, and your sound effects are amplified!
The Yamaha DTX-MULTI 12 features 12 trigger pads in a compact, split-level configuration and includes 1,249 drum, percussion and effects sounds. The Roland SP-404SX features 3 control knobs, 12 trigger pads and Sub Pad for rapid repeat triggering. The Roland SP-555 comes with dozens of killer performance effects and has ultra-easy sampling with the Loop Capture feature.
