As marching season approaches, we’re sure your to-do list includes ordering new shoes for your marching band. Here are a few tips from McCormick’s to help you get the shoes you need in the most efficient and economical way.
All marching shoes sold at McCormick’s are sized the same as street shoe sizes, and are available in men’s and women’s sizes. Keep in mind that many students today are used to a looser fitting casual shoe, especially if they wear flip-flops or other slip-on shoes. Marching shoes are designed to have a snug fit, so the shoes might feel a little tight at first. As long as there is room in the front of the shoe and it’s not slipping off the back, you have the right fit.
Each brand of shoe has its own range of available sizes, so please check our catalog or website before ordering. If a student normally wears, say, a size 12 ½ and the shoe does not come in that size, it is best to go up to the next size up. They can always put on an extra pair of socks if the fit is slightly loose.
We highly recommend ordering all your band’s shoes together rather than having each student place his or her own order. Besides being easier for us to process your order, it will also save you a good deal of money! All of our marching shoes have a quantity discount when ordering six or more pairs at a time. Also, the shipping cost will be much lower per pair when ordering many at a time. With the quantity discount and lower shipping cost of ordering all at once, you could save each of your students $7.00-$11.00!
