Guard Costumes: Getting the Right Fit
Sometimes the most tedious part of ordering uniforms for your guard is measuring every member and making sure they get the right size. McCormick's expert guard staff knows the process and has some tips for collecting the most accurate measurements for the best fit. Please note that out custom uniforms are made to order and are non-returnable/non-exchangeable. This is why proper measuring is so important!
Since the uniforms we offer are typically sized differently than students' street wear, we recommend that you send us the measurements of every member in your guard so that we can determine which size would fit best. Though a student might normally wear at size Medium in street clothes, in guard uniform sizing it is possible they are size Large.
The measurement we see the most confusion with is the waist. Often times people measure too close to their hips, making it seem as if their waist size is larger than it really is. To properly measure waist size, lean to the side and note where the largest crease is—it should be just above the belly button. The point of this crease is the actual waistline, so measure at that point.
The most important measurement is the girth. If measured improperly, the uniform can either be stretched too tight, making it quite uncomfortable, or it will be far too long for the student’s torso. See illustration to correctly find this measurement.
